Wolves Watch '07

In case you've forgotten, the Clippers stand to receive Minnesota's first round draft pick this June, provided it isn't a top 10 pick. Right now, Minnesota would have...you guessed it...the 10th pick in the draft.
The standings from the bottom up:
Memphis | 17 | 51 | .250 | -- |
Boston | 20 | 48 | .294 | 3 |
Milwaukee | 25 | 42 | .373 | 8 ½ |
Charlotte | 26 | 43 | .377 | 8 ½ |
Philadelphia | 26 | 42 | .382 | 9 |
Seattle | 26 | 41 | .388 | 9 ½ |
Atlanta | 27 | 42 | .391 | 9 ½ |
Portland | 27 | 40 | .403 | 10 ½ |
Sacramento | 29 | 39 | .426 | 12 |
Minnesota | 29 | 38 | .433 | 12 ½ |
New York | 30 | 37 | .448 | 13 ½ |
Indiana | 30 | 37 | .448 | 13 ½ |
Orlando | 31 | 38 | .449 | 13 ½ |
NOOCH | 31 | 37 | .456 | 14 |
New Jersey | 31 | 37 | .456 | 14 |
In order for the Clips to acquire the Minnesota pick, the T-Wolves are going to have to "drop" below one of the Eastern teams battling it out for the final two playoff spots, or NOOCH, who is still on the outskirts of the #8 slot in the West. In other words, the Clips need MIN to win a couple of games down the stretch.
As previously discussed, the Clips' most pressing need - an NBA-ready point guard - is in short supply in the 2007 draft. Still, getting this season's T-Wolves pick is the preferred outcome, particularly since, if the Wolves fall out of the Bottom 10, the pick will be somewhere in the 11-14 neighborhood, which is the best the Clippers can hope for out of the pick.

Hopefully, Indiana continues to tank, and if Chris Paul phones it in, NOOCH is done.
When did Orlando fall way down there?
