Have the Clippers sunk so low that our hometown newspaper, the Los Angeles Times, don't even bother to send a reporter on the road trip or to write an article about the team? The LA Times have been printing AP wire reports for the past two weeks on the Clips. If I wanted to read that, I can just read that damn AP article online half an hour after the game.

Who has fallen further, the Clippers or the Los Angeles Times? How many reporters do you need to cover the Lakers and how many articles can you write about what Luke Walton had for breakfast? Now I realize that there are only like 10 Clippers fans in all of Los Angeles (6 of whom are on this blog). But maybe we should start boycotting the LA Times until they start paying attention to our city's professional basketball team.

Is it any wonder that Al Thornton or Kaman don't even get a whiff of All Star recognition? Heck even our hometown newspaper don't even bother to write about the team. In their infinite wisdom, they devote two whole pages to the local high school water polo teams instead. And they wonder why newspaper circulation is down? Shame on the Los Angeles Times. How far have they fallen.

That's a tribune company issue...not a Clippers issue. The state of the daily paper in this nation is in crisis. They're pulling out of foreign bureaus, eliminating jobs en masse. Given the climate, I'm surprised it took them this long.

You're right CB, the national and international reporting of the LA Times have been declining for a few years now. Their few good writers are gone or have packed up and moved on to the NY Times or the Washington Post (even those papers have lost their best writers as well).

But despite the Tribune cutbacks, the LA Times still devote two-three daily articles on the Lakers regardless of whether they played or not. This suggests an editorial decision as much as a budgetary one. All I want is one stinking article on the Clippers after they've played a game. And our hometown paper (owned by the Chicago Tribune) can't even do that?

I have to respectfully disagree with you here because I think this is a Clippers issue. Especially when it impacts the city's perception of our sports team, and when players like Kaman or Thornton don't even get a mention in the All Star game (the media, even enfeebled print journalism, still influences public perception). Even after we play a decent game against Toronto, people who read the LA Times wouldn't know much about it, nor will they read about Thornton's heroics in the fourth quarter. Pretty soon people here in LA won't even know that there's another professional basketball team in town.

Maybe the Tribune Company should just eliminate Clippers articles entirely and replace it with Bulls columns. All Lakers and all Bulls all the time. That way they can save even more money by not paying the AP for their pathetic wire reporting on the Clips.

I think the Clipper fans would like to see you suit up again and play for the Clips. They are lacking toughness right now which you always brought to the table...

By the way, they need shooters, too. Maybe you can ask the Don "the professor" suit up with you!

It's not just the Times it's the local TV stations too. Especially that homer of all homers Hartman. You wouldn't even know there existed an LA Clippers from local TV.

Now Lonnie 113 from a few posts back, can you see why so many people here hate the Lakers, they could lose 10 in a row and the LA TImes would be still crawling up their backside for a feelgood storey.

And i forgot to add the Clips absolutley stunk in this game, never ever a chance. Disappointing.

i know it's awful when i start flipping over to the bud shootout to watch cars go around in circles and looking for a big wreck that never came.

as a life long clipper fan and former employee (i was born into it), i have to say that the lack of respect on the news department (both the la times and the local la news channels) has been constant. even when the clips had a good season (i still have my danny manning "hip 2 clip" t-shirt), the lakers were the lead story. always have been and always will be. that's part of being a clippers fan. and that also adds to why i hate the lakers that much more. i honestly would clap if their plane went down and they all died. clap clap

as far as this last game goes...Q Ross made a basket (have to focus on the little victories).

I wouldn't go as far as the plane going down, chris, that is a bit morbid, but what really yanks my chain is that an Ex Clipper can slide back into LA and have the gaul to put on a Lakers shirt.

Well I'm used to the Lakers getting alot more publicity and press Chris. But the fact that the Los Angeles Times is resorting to printing AP wire reports instead of sending just one junior reporter to write a few words after a Clippers game is a new low.

Fans, since the Clippers are not the darlings of Tinseltown the team needs to prove themselves. I'm a Clipper fan and let's be honest with ourselves the teams SUCKS. The Clippers got killed by a sorry Sixers.

So let's stop blaming the media or homer's like Hartman. Bottom line we need management to sign Elton and sign a impact player like Agent Zero (Arenas) that type of player will put us on the map.

For various reasons I've stopped taking the Times. The Daily News, however, recently got their story on a home game from AP.
That's really sad.

the clippers dont deserve any airtime. I too have to search the internet for new and non-AP articles. Actually, the Philly game was on the Nba Package, and i got to finally hear some outsider critiques... that was the only good thing about that game.

In this country, if nobody cares about you, you're not going to get any press. I dont care if you are a pro basketball team or a ballet academy.

You just have to accept being 2nd fiddle until the management can put together a team that wins 2 championships in 3 years... and we all know that's not happening if Mr. Elgin Baylor has anything to say about that.

Let's not forget, folks, that our flagship TV station, KTLA 5, is also owned by the Tribune Company, the same people who own the Los Angeles Times. Maybe we should boycott KTLA as well.

Sadly, many of you are right about the press coverage. Unless the Clippers can build the same legacy in this town like the Lakers, Dodgers, USC football, and UCLA basketball, the ass-kissers in the media (namely Homer Hartman, Roggin, Jim Hill, those idiots at ABC7, etc.) will never care about the Clippers. Hell, even the Angels winning a title and Arte Moreno creating a marketing blitz throughout all of Southern California finally gave them notice outside of Orange County. It's hard to get rid of over 20 years of apathy unless and until you have get continued success. Being in the playoffs only four times in 24 seasons in Los Angeles isn't gonna cut it.

Next to Atlanta and Miami, L.A. is probably one of the most fickle sports towns in America. There are very few loyal sports fans in this area. Just wait until Kobe leaves and the Lakers fall into the tank.
