Five thoughts:

1) Trade for AI
2) Kaman sucks (not physical or smart)
3) Dunleavy doesn't seem to know how to run an offense (few touches for Brand, no post ups against Parker)
4) Dunleavy was more interested in protecting the paint than 12+ foot wide open shots.
5) Trade for AI

Let's move Maggette and Cat for AI, Pierce or Ray Allen. Let's make the leap

Normally, I don't care for trade talk. But we've got a unique case here: AI is going somewhere and the team has stated publicly that they are going to accommodate him.

I'm not sure there's a team that can put together a package better than Mobley, Maggette, Aaron Williams (still need a little more salary), and a draft choice. What does Minnesota get them? Ricky Davis, Randy Foye...and they still need to find another $11 million or so...Mike James (but he's early in his contract)...Denver has JR Smith, but Phila would have to take either Nene or Kenyon Martin -- both injured, along with Joe Smith.

The point is that if the Clippers want him, they can probably get him. It would be an enormous risk, but since the guy is effectively being auctioned, I think it's fair to entertain some trade talk...even if it isn't usually your brand of vodka.

My wife heard the news that AI asked to be traded and started laughing at him. She calls him "Crying Eyes". I like the name and spread it around whenever I can. Then I said there is a non-zero chance he ends up a Clipper and she fell silent for several moments and then became slightly upset. Classic stages: denial, bargaining, etc.

My reaction is similar, but because I am a much colder peson I have internalized it and am unable to sleep.

There is nothing good about Iverson as a Clipper.

Redd, Allen, Pierce, Johnson, Arenas. Hell, Grant Fucking Hill. Anyone but AI. Please don't let this happen.

And no matter who they trade for, Brand, Livingston, Kaman, Ross and Cassell are untouchable.

The Heat started 10-10 last season. No need to panic yet.

The great thing about AI is that he consistently plays with a killer instinct. The Clips could definately use some of that right now. That being said, I don't see how he fits in the rotation, unless you either give up Cassell or Livingston, and neither will happen most likely.

Lakers vs. Clippers. Kobe vs. AI. Sounds good on paper.

If we get AI then Cassell is superfluous because you have your big shotmaker and killer instinct but with *way* less defensive liability. Cassell is honestly good for 10 points for the opposing guards over and above a moderately capable defender.

Unfortunately, AI needs the ball in his hands to be effective, but then everyone else is comfortable off the ball so I don't see why it doesn't work.

I still can't see why Livingston/AI/Ross/Brand/Kaman with Thomas the sixth man isn't way better than what we have now.

If 76's demand Cassell with Maggette & Ewing in the mix, both teams will get big boost from this trade.

There are many good , young players who couldn't make it to NBA. If NBA can pick atleast 25 players every year and groom them for International Basketball, that would be great. NBA is rich enough to allocate enough funds on these players. If NBA loves USA, this is one of the ways to prove it. To win world championship, year-long total coomitment is required. Asking NBA players to sign up for this tournament is ridiculous.
