Miami Heat PG Shabazz Napier made two free throws with 3.8 seconds left, and the Heat defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 87-85 to stay undefeated in the Orlando Summer League.
The Clippers fell to 1-3.
SF C.J. Wilcox started along with SG D.J. Newbill again, but he struggled mightily, finishing the game with 11 points on only 2-of-14 shooting from the field. A silver lining is that Wilcox’s only made three in five attempts came with 42.9 seconds left to play, tying the game at 85 after the Clippers trailed by 13 in the final quarter.
Napier finished with 14 points, four rebounds, and six assists with only one turnover in his first game of the summer. The Clippers were without PG Nate Wolters, who broke his left middle finger in Tuesday’s win against the Thunder. In Wolters place was PG Diante Garrett, who scored a game-high 20 points (9-of-18 FGs) while adding three assists and no turnovers.
Clippers PF Branden Dawson was impressive again, finishing Wednesday’s game with 15 points (7-of-13 FGs), and game-highs of 11 rebounds, three steals, and four blocked shots. Like Tuesday, Jordan Hamilton and Royce White did not play.

Heat rookie SF Justise Winslow started but only played just under eight minutes, registering only a foul, a turnover, and a couple of missed field goals. But James Ennis had 14 points for Miami (9-of-10 FTs), while C Willie Reed led the Heat with 17 points while blocking four shots.
The Orlando Summer League will conclude on Friday, July 10. The Clippers will play, but details will be announced later.
