The LA Clippers split their 2016-2017 season series with the Philadelphia 76ers, beating them 112-100 on Saturday, March 11 at STAPLES Center. Clippers All-Star C DeAndre Jordan had 19 points and 20 rebounds, while PG Chris Paul had a season-high 30 points.
Chris Paul was great against Philadelphia and singlehandedly saved them from an embarrassing loss. Speights and Felton played well and continue to show how it’s a good thing to sign good players for the minimum.
DJ and CP3 were dynamic. Get JJ and Jamal a night off. Close leash on Austin, we need consistent production. CP and Ray-Ray together in the back-court worked, although we are talking about Philly. I’ll take win, and nice workman-like effort by Blake. He played like a Power Forward.
Loss to Utah wasn’t that bad. CP3 and BG would be playing more minutes in the playoffs and Doc needs to bench Crawford. Crawford lost the game for the Clippers last night.
Although I do like A Rivers a lot more now, he shouldn’t be taking the shot with 1 minute left in the game when CP3, Reddick and BG are also on the floor
Yes, I think the Clippers will beat Utah in seven game series, but getting home court would help.
I understand resting Griffin, because he and Paul have to be in good shape when the playoffs start for the Clippers to have any chance. I have no problem with that, even if it did give up on the Denver game.
But the Clippers have been looking bad since the all star break, and even their wins in that stretch have been iffy.
Coach Rivers said in the LA Times today that he thinks the Clippers are getting too much criticism for their recent play and that Cleveland and Golden State are going through rough stretches too but nobody is criticizing them.
There is one huge difference between the Clippers on the one hand the Cleveland and Golden State on the other. Cleveland and Golden State are in the #1 spots, and the Clippers are in the five spot and sliding toward the 7 spot.
I blame Rivers for this long stretch of bad play.
Doesn’t look like Clippers are getting the 4th. I really don’t think it matters if the Clippers get 7th vs 5th (or 4th). Better to rest BG and CP3.
If the Clippers get 4th or 5th, they have to play Golden State in the next round.
Better to play Houston and SA to get to the conference finals where the Clippers have never been before. Not that I think they would get past either one, but they would be easier than Golden State.
Hey, remember when the Clippers used to suck? That’s the tired refrain from Clipper fans who can’t come to grips with reality.
This is the 6th year of the Chris Paul era. The Clippers are 21-29 in the playoffs during the Chris Paul era.
But, don’t forget, the 1999-2000 Clippers went 15-67.
So, sign me up for year 7, year 8, year 9, year 10, and year 11 of this bullshit. It’s so entertaining, isn’t it? Just like the Steve Nash era Suns, right?
The important thing is that it’s the fourth year of the Rivers era. The Clippers currently have a record of .580. The year before Rivers got here the Clippers won the Pacific division and had a.683 record.
Boston is glad they got rid of him so they could rebuild with a smart coach. Boston is now second in the East with a .638 record. Rivers’ last season there they were 41-40 and disintegrating fast, like the Clippers now are.
Not a good quote from Reddick
https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/j-j-redick-on-clippers-i-dont-know-what-to-expect-from-this-team-anymore/
Redick sounds like he’ll be signing with another team in the off season. I’m worried Blake Griffin also may leave.
The team seems to be slowly disintegrating. I think the blame goes completely on Rivers. The Clippers definitely were better before Rivers got here than they are now. The record was better. The overall play was better. The defensive and rebounding strategies were better. Most important the assets for building a future (draft choices, tradeable players) were better.
Rivers has shown bad judgment over and over again since he got here.
The Clippers are now paying the price for all of his bad judgment.
Ballmer needs to make a change.
Looks like Doc Rivers is going to Orlando, he’s going to bail

Maybe Ballmer doesn’t have to do anything. Seems like they’re all jumping ship right now. Big question is if CP3 and BG stay. Only good news is maybe the Clippers can get a great player if Doc trades for his son in Orlando
Looked up Dunleavy’s record with Tulane this year, 6-25. Last year they were 12-22, year before 15-16. Now I suppose he needs to recruit and get his players and it will take time… but he’s not off to a good start.
